As India moves into the 5G age, Apple will enable 5G in the iOS 16 Beta software program next week for selected iPhone users in India The tech giant announced on Wednesday.

Apple Airtel as well as Jio customers who take part in the iOS 16 Beta software can test 5G prior to it becoming made available to the public in December, as per Apple.

The Beta program allows users to try the software before it is released and test new features prior to when the software goes live.

In October, Apple said it was working with its "carrier partners in India to bring the best 5G experience to iPhone users as soon as network validation and testing for quality and performance is completed".

"5G will be enabled via a software update and will start rolling out to iPhone users in December," the company said in an announcement.

As India introduces 5G in a sluggish approach, beginning with major metro cities, smartphone users are working to make 5G available to their devices.

The users of iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone SE (third generation) models will receive an update to the software in the coming months for 5G.

Apple conducts extensive tests in conjunction with carriers to ensure a positive service for iPhone users.

The 5G support on iPhone is now expanded to more than 250 carriers in more than 70 countries around the globe including the support of standalone networks.

Prioritizing software upgrades will enable the adoption of 5G as early as possible in India.
